Acupuncture for Pain

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is based on the premise that the human body strives to be healthy. Life stressors and poor nutrition can influence your health.  By stimulating specific points, Acupuncture treatments can clear blockages helping to release tight muscles and relieve inflammation, increase circulation and support the body’s immune system.

Pain management is often the motivator for patients to try an Acupuncture treatment. We have seen that many patients have already tried physical therapy and medications with no relief. They have found that Acupuncture is an excellent alternative for alleviating pain and promoting a balance healthier body.

Acupuncture treatment is appropriate for a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions, including but not limited to:

  • allergies & asthma

  • fatigue & accompanying depression

  • PMS

  • anxiety & insomnia

  • digestive disorders

  • headaches & migraines

  • musculoskeletal pain (such as pain in the lower back, knees, shoulders, wrists etc.)

Acupuncture Treatment add-ons:

Acupuncture Injection Therapy:  Acupuncture injection therapy involves the injection of homeopathic solutions or vitamins.

Moxabustion:  Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called “moxa” are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the body.

Cupping: Cupping therapy is an ancient practice where the therapist applies suction cups to various areas of the body. While the cup is in place the suction stimulates blood flow. As a result it may produce a hickey-like red or purple bruise.

Gua Sha:  Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping on skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation.
