Functional Nutrition Therapy is an individualized science and testing based approach that encourages clients and practitioners to work together to discover underlying causes of imbalance and health concerns. We spend focused time with our clients and listen to their concerns, questions, and history while looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. All of these considerations influence long-term health and complex chronic disease.
We use Functional Diagnostic Testing along with the input from personal consultations to help determine the best protocol for each of our clients. Protocols include nutrition and diet guidelines, supplement suggestions, herbal formulas, lifestyle guidelines for optimal support and other emotional or mental support options. Our own Nutritionist is also a certified Herbalist which is an excellent complement to her Nutrition training and certifications.

IgG Food Map Test
What is IgG?
Immunoglobulin G (IgG): a type of antibody. IgG is the most common type of antibody found in blood circulation.
The IgG Food Map Tests 190 foods to determine if that food reaction is contributing to physical or mental symptoms in a much more efficient way than eliminating and then reintroducing each suspect food one-by-one over a period of time. Removal of highly reactive foods from the diet is a non-invasive therapy that often mitigates a patient’s symptoms and quickly begins the healing of the detriments of inflammation, intestinal mucosal barrier breakdown and the beginnings of potential chronic health conditions.
How does the IgG Food Map differ from traditional Elisa testing and determine food sensitivities?
Antigen-specific IgG antibodies are captured on multiplexed magnetic beads using Multiple Analyte Profiling technology. This bead-based immunoassay allows for the simultaneous detection of IgG antibodies to all 190 foods in two single test wells, reducing sample volume requirements and reagents while increasing sensitivity and specificity as compared to traditional plate-based ELISA tests. The food-specific IgG antibody level of each sample is detected with a fluorescent-labeled antibody against IgG. Because of this, the IgG Food Map test is much more sensitive and reliable than the Elisa test.
Organic Acid Test (OAT)
What are Organic Acids?
Organic acids are chemical compounds excreted in their urine of mammals that are products of metabolism. Metabolism is the sum of chemical reactions in living beings by which the body builds new molecules and breaks down molecules to eliminate waste products and produce energy.
Why would I take the OAT test?
The OAT test is for anyone with a chronic health condition where they suspect metabolic toxins or biochemical imbalances may be a causative or contributing factor. The following is a short list of health disorders, but not exclusive, where the OAT can be helpful: Autism and ADD/ADHD, autoimmune, chronic fatigue, digestive problems, metabolic, mental health and neurological disorders. In addition to these disorders, the OAT can also highlight a number of organic acids directly or indirectly indicating deficiencies of critical vitamins such as vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin C, vitamin D, and others. One of the most important uses of the organic acids test is as an indicator of an abnormal overgrowth of yeast, bacteria and mold in the intestinal tract. When this happens, these bacterial byproducts from the intestines can enter the bloodstream and may alter the metabolism of neurotransmitters ( Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that transmit a message from a nerve cell across the synapse to a target cell).
LifeThyme’s Herbal Products
Anne personally formulates and produces LifeThyme’s own line of herbal and health products. They include tinctures (herbal extracts), syrups, powders, slaves, and tonics. Only whole, organic and/or wildcrafted plants are used in the formulation process. Anne handcrafts and formulates the highest quality products to support each client individual protocol.
What are tinctures?
An herbal tincture is a liquid extract of an herb or combination of herbs. A single herb or combination of herbs are soaked in a liquid extraction base from 3 to 8 weeks. The liquid used to extract the properties of the herbs is a drinking alcohol with at least an 80 percent alcohol content. Each herb has a different requirement of solvency to extract the properties from the herb. Alcohol is used most commonly because of its high solvency thus more properties of the herb end up in the finished product. Glycerin is used for herbs needing a lower solvency or for herbs for children or people who cannot tolerate alcohol.
What are herbal powders?
Herbal powders are made from grinding the plant leaves, bark, flowers and/or roots (depending on the herb used) into a powder. Powders can be easily incorporated into foods, drinks or even encapsulated to take easily. LifeThyme formulates their own Restorative Superfood Powder.
What are syrups?
Syrups are made from a decoction (simmering an herb in water for at least an hour) which is reduced and then mixed with honey or other concentrates to make a syrup. Elderberry syrup is a common syrup made that is loved by children and adults alike.
What are salves?
Salves are made by infusing herbs in an oil at a low temperature for 12-24 hours. The infusion is then strained, and the oil is mixed with beeswax, shea butter and/or coconut oil. After cooling the salve is harden and easy to apply to the skin. LifeThyme stocks their own First Aid Salve and Itch Relief Salve.
What are tonics?
Tonics are made from combing tinctures, syrups and fruit or herbal concentrates. They are strong and specific for certain health conditions or immune boosting effects. LifeThyme specializes in make Anti-Viral Tonic and Immune Enhancing Tonic (Syrup). LifeThyme’s most popular tonic is the Vitamin Mineral Tonic. It is made by infusing a combination of nourishing and immune building herbs in which the strained concentrate is then mixed with fruit concentrate, molasses, and honey to create a tasty “vitamin in a bottle”. Clients love the vitamin and mineral enriched tonic for the whole family. Kids love the taste too! Anne makes this fresh, on island during each quarter.
